ArT!!!

For me art is everything; from the most beautiful picture to the wrinkles of the oldest woman in the world; from the sound of the birds until the horn of a car; from the photograph of a landscape to a blurry photo...

Everything around us is art! Music, photography, film, painting, interior design, graffiti, literature, sculpture, ceramics, mosaic...This is just a small part of art. The art is found in things large and small ... the image of a snowflake or an atom is art! The Earth view by the astronauts of the space stations is also art!

Music

The music makes us feel and remember! When you listen a song you can be sad or really happy!

The piano is my favourite instrument and when I play the song River flows in your it reminds me the special thing of the world.

The Canto del Loco is my favourite band. In my first concert, the first song that sounded was Personas, so every time I hear and I remember that night. Another song from the Canto del Loco is Insoportable, my favourite song. This song reminds me when I was little and I felt sad. Peter Pan is a Canto del Loco's song too. I like it a lot because I remember when I was small and I was disguised with my friends.

Photography

Photography allows us to capture images funny, horrible, sad, beautiful ... in just a moment.

My favourite pictures are of many colours or that are taken by surprise.

One of the most beautiful pictures for me is a kiss from a boy to a girl taken at the Hotel Ville square in 1950 taken by Robert Doisneau. I don’t know why but I really like it!

Painting

Pop art is one of the styles that I like more.

But The renaissance, along with sketches of da Vinci are also very good to me. The expressions of the faces are impressive.

Although it is almost always religious reasons, I admire these paints because with the few resources they had they were able to portray as, if they were photographs, the scenes.

Hi!!

We think Casa Batlló are the best monument to a coin, because is a one of the most important and original building of Catalonia.

Casa Batlló is a building restored by Antoni Gaudí and Josep Maria Jujol, built in the year 1877 and remodelled in the years 1905–1907; located at Passeig de Gràcia part of the Illa de la Discòrdia in the Eixample district of Barcelona, Catalonia.

Much of the façade is decorated with a mosaic made of broken ceramic tiles that starts in shades of golden orange moving into greenish blues. The roof is arched and was likened to the back of a dragon or dinosaur. A common theory about the building is that the rounded feature to the left of centre, terminating at the top in a turret and cross, represents the sword of Saint George which has been plunged into the back of the dragon.

We have a lot of important Sports, for example basketball, football… but the most important Sports in our city is Baseball.

Baseball is a play between two teams
of nine players each other. The goal of baseball is to score runs by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four markers called bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond. Players on one team take turns hitting against the pitcher on the other team. A player on the batting team can stop at any of the bases and hope to score on a teammate's hit. The teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team gets three outs. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

In Viladecans we have a team of Softball (is the same as baseball but for girls), the team won a lot of competitions:

In Catalonia, other important sports are football and basketball. In Spain we have important players in that sport, for example: in basketball we have Ricky Rubio. He is a young player that participation in the Olympic Games and he plays in DKV Juventud. He is the best player in the world that isn’t in the NBA. Bojan Krkic is a football player. He is very young and plays in FC Barcelona with other important players as Messi.

That it’s our sport world!!!

My neighbourhood, my city!

Hi!

I’m Irene and I’m going to tell you how is my city, Viladecans.

Viladecans is a city near of one of the most importants cities cities in Spain, Barcelona.
It’s situated in the region of the “Baix Llobregat” and it has 64000 inhabitants approximately.

My city has got a coastal area with a large beach. This has got ecological importance, because of its animal and vegetal richness. Viladecans has got mountain area too; it is characterized by its pine forests. On the other hand, in the centre of the city or near of it, there are another places of entertainment to visit and have a great time with friends or family. For example, “Atrium”, it is a big installation with many uses: it is a sport centre (there are swimming pools, gym...) and a theatre (many important plays have performed in there) at the same time. There are a cafeteria and a sport shop too. Another important places in my city are the library, the cinema, the “Torrente Ballester” park, the city hall, the baseball camp( the baseball team is one of the best of Catalonia) , the “Torre del Baró” (the oldest Viladecans building, it was built in XII century), “Torre Roja” ( a medieval fortification)...

The most important festivals in Viladecans are the city fiesta (5 to 11 of September) and the festival on the street (it is in summer and consist in that many theatre companys come to Viladecans and perform their plays on the street).

My flat is situated in one of the mos beautiful areas of Viladecans (in my opinion), but it is a bit far of the centre of the city. I live in front of another city, Gavà. The thing that characterized my street is the large avenue called “Riera Sant Llorenç (this separated the two cities, Viladecans and Gavà). At the end of the avenue I can see a beautiful mountain, Begues. I think my neighbourhood is quite peaceful, because my street doesn’t have a lot of traffic, and people, in general are nice and kind.

Finally, I like telling you that I think Viladecans is a nice place to visit and have a great time.

I hope you like it.

I love Christmas...

One of the main reasons why I love Christmas is because we have time to rest.

I love Christmas for the spirit that awakens in people. All the streets are enlightened and people walk by them even do much colder.

I like the lights but also would be nice to find a solution to spend less energy. I like That people make gifts, but I don't like consumerism.

The American traditions, I really like me, except Santa Claus, I have mania because when I was small he didn't bring gifts for me. I like the Magi more because they bring me gifts and also is a Spanish tradition.

Another Spanish tradition that I like is that they eat the twelve grapes. It's fun because I always eat them all I find very difficult. In other countries they do other things or they do nothing.

One of the American traditions that make me grace very much is the big decorating their houses with lights. In my house we do not do it but it would be fun but without being exaggerated.

Another is to eat turkey on Christmas Day. This year, the boyfriend of my cousin made a big turkey stuffing and all the family went to eat at home of them. It is tradition in my family that Christmas Day we go to eat at my uncle's house but from this year changes. On Christmas day we will go home to my cousins and day is St. Stephen at home of my uncle.

My mother was born in a village of Castilla la mancha, Chequilla. In the town square, next to clock of the church, it is tradition that all the villagers will meet after dinner to take the twelve grapes. It is very cold and often after eating grapes has started to snow.

My favourite day of Christmas is the day of kings. I like getting up and down beside the tree to open presents with my parents. The whole families gather at my house and eat together. The menu is the same every year and so it's also a tradition.

The only bad of Christmas is the end.
